Homecoming Dance, 3 October: The school has requested that the parents support the Homecoming Dance with snacks and help with either food set up( 5 – 8 pm), food oversight at the dance (7:30 – 10:00 pm) or clean up (10:00 – 12:00 pm).
The party will be attended by 1200 students. We are requesting that parents donate snacks that can be easily picked up and eaten, such as chips, pretzels, cookies, small donuts and candy. Parents can bring food to the front office the week of 28 September or on Saturday, 3 October to the Commons.
If parents can help at homecoming please email – lowetj@comcast.net with the time and your telephone number.
Breakfast with Santa, 12 December: This is a wonderful holiday community event that is sponsored by the school. Led by the staff the kids turn Forest Park into a Christmas wonderland for our communities’ younger children.
Donations are needed for:
1) Gently used books (pre-school aged were the most popular). Please wrap them in holiday paper and annotate if they are for a girl or boy and what age.
2) Wrapping paper and Christmas lights.
3) Sugar cookies.
4) Pancake mix and cooks to work the griddles, as the students will be working the games and cookie decoration areas.
A lot of help is needed for set up on Friday, Dec 11th after 2 pm. If you can help please contact Ms. White, at 703-583-3200 or email her at whiteke@pwcs.edu
Grad Night: This is a great graduation party that is put on by parents each year at Chinn’s Recreation Center. They will be having several fundraisers this year. They need your participation. It takes 9 months to prepare and plan for this party. Please contact Dany Peabody at FPGradNight@comcast.net. Check out the Grad Night website under Administration.
Nonprofit tax Id number: The PTSO is going to work this year to try and establish a nonprofit tax id number. This would help establishing future fundraisers, as well as, when the Grad Night purchases prizes for the party, they would not have to waste funds on taxes. If you have any knowledge or would be willing to help work on the forms, please email – lowetj@comcast.net.
PTSO donations:
$100 was given to each class (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior & Senior) for Homecoming preparation or future projects.
$1,000 for Grad Night
$1,000 to Forest Park for use during the year, possibly two new LCD projectors.
Message from Mr. Brent: Oct 5th at 7 pm in the Library is the Principle Advisory Council meeting. Parents are welcome.
PTSO future meeting dates: Nov 9th, Jan 11th, Mar 8th and May 10. All are welcome and we meet in the library at 7 pm for approximately 1 hour.
