These scholarships were established to provide students across the state of Virginia with financial assistance in their pursuit of an educational curriculum in the criminal justice field. AES Engineers is pleased to renew their scholarship offer for 2010. Their belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. The VIP Women in Technology Scholarship (WITS) Program is sponsored by Visionary Integration Professionals, a global information technology and outsourcing firm. The WITS Program is made available annually to promising women across the nation.
♦ Eligibility: To be eligible, a student must be enrolled at, or accepted into, either a two or four year college or university within the United States for the 2010 school year. These individuals must be planning a career in information technology or a related field.
♦ Awards: The 2010 WITS program will give multiple scholarship awards that value up to $2,500 per recipient. Nine total awards were granted in 2009 for college or university study.

The Granville P. Meade fund provides scholarship awards to worthy and needy Virginia high school seniors to attend one of Virginia’s public or private colleges or universities. Since the recipients of the Granville P Meade Scholarship are based on both need and merit, applicants will need to demonstrate academic achievement, extracurricular activities, good character - as evidenced by letters of recommendation, and financial need. The Naval Officers’ Spouses’ Club of Washington, D.C. will award several scholarships to seniors. The scholarships are 100% merit based and must be applied only to tuition. The NOSC scholarships are awarded for one year and are not renewable. The applicant must be a dependent child of an active duty, retired, or deceased U.S. Navy service member who:
- resides and serves in a command within the boundaries of Naval District Washington or had served in a command in Naval District Washington, or
- served in a command in Naval District Washington and is deceased.

The Florida A&M University (FAMU) Computer Information Sciences (CIS) Program, housed in the College of Arts and Sciences, is the recipient of a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant valued at $552,000 dedicated to recruiting minority women to computer science and information technology disciplines. The program, entitled African-American Women in Computer Science (AAWCS), is a four-year program that provides scholarships and other assistance to women who express a financial need and an interest in computer science or information technology.
Women who apply to AAWCS will be accepted based on financial need, and will be awarded a scholarship between $3,000 and $5,000 per semester.
